For those who are still having doubts on whether they should visit Costa Rica, let me try to convince you by providing a few key reasons. Costa Rica is after all one of the most beautiful places in the Central America region and some say the world which I would readily agree. With stretches of pristine and unpolluted beaches, spectacular rainforest and sparkling blue waters of Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, it is almost like paradise on earth.

Furthermore the weather is warm through out the year so you can actually travel light and be sure to pack your swim wear and summer clothing. The locals mainly speak Spanish and most of them could speak and understand English due to its proximity the US and influence from the influx of expatriates and foreign tourist from the US and Europe. The people here are pretty easy going and friendly so don’t be surprised if you make quite a number of new pals on holiday here.

The glorious beaches here is another crucial reason why you should visit Costa Rica. My suggestion is to head to the Central Pacific coast in Costa Rica. It will only take you approximately 1 and half hours drive from San Jose (capital city of Costa Rica) to one of these fabulous costal towns in the Central Pacific coast. Places like Dominical and Punta Uvita are known for their laid back and relaxing atmosphere where you can lie on the beach the whole day with your spouse. Finding a place to stay in Dominical is usually a breeze. Among the recommended hotels and resorts to say in are like Cuna del Angel which a boutique resort that offers luxurious amenities, lush gardens and world class spa.

The other place is Villas Rio Mar Beach Resort which is located about 2,600 feet above sea level. This place offers a stunning panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean. While you are in Dominical, go and check our the Ballena Marine National Park where you can sport whales and dolphins as well as horseback riding and amazing waterfalls. The other place which is famous for the beaches is in Guanacaste and the sunset view here is simply spectacular. The are also plenty of fun-filled activities to do on the beach for adventure seekers as well as families. You can swim, kayak, surf, go horse-riding, scuba diving, fishing and the list go on and on.

The other reason to visit Costa Rica is the rainforest. The whole country is virtually filled with pockets of almost untouched jungle and lush forest. Where do you start then? Well you can hope on the plan from San Jose and make your way to Monterverde where you can visit the world famous mountain top “cloud forest” at the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve. The name came from the fact that the forest stands at almost 1400 feet above sea level so the clouds go through the forest offering an almost permanent mysterious mist or cloud. Apart from the cloud, the forest is famous for the abundance of mammals such as monkeys and birds especially the elusive Resplendent Quetzal. For accommodation, I recommended that you check into Hotel El Sapo Dorado which offers a great view of the Gulf of Nicoya aside from the fireplaces and private terraces which is a perfect place to stay.

Although it is warm throughout the year but the best time to go to Costa Rica is from December to May. This is known to be the dry season in Costa Rica so you have plenty of time to enjoy the outdoors and visit places. However this is also the peak season which means that you have pay more for accommodation, food, tours and almost everything else. If you don’t mind a little bit of rain here and there, I would recommend that you go during the low season. Try to plan for late spring or early fall as you will be able get great bargains and less crowds.
