Costa Rica indeed is blessed with so many great places to visit and Nosara is certainly one of them. Nosara Costa Rica is located in the Nicoya peninsula, Guanacaste area at the south of Tamarindo is synonymous with having one of the best beaches in the country. Here you can find the famous beach of the same name as the town, Playa Ostional, Playa Pelada and Playa Guiones. Nosara can be considered as a small town of village as there are not many commercial areas in the town, only a few restaurants and convenient stores scattered all the over the town. The sparse development and slow pace of life here is perfect especially if you are looking for quite and serene place to stay on your Costa Rica honeymoon.
Although the development here is slow but the little town do boasts of a couple of marvelous hotels to cater for the growing number of tourist and honeymoon makers to Nosara Costa Rica. Among them is the Harbor Reef Lodge, a hotel surrounded by lush tropical vegetation and a great place to relax and unwind. The hotel also provides houses for rent besides having rooms and suites. Rates are quite affordable which is in the range of USD20 to 38 per night for the rooms. Next is Harmony Hotel and like its namesake, the owners designed the place to co-exist with its natural surroundings in perfect harmony. A quaint and beautiful place to stay in plus the landscape is simply out of this world. Rates starts from USD75 all to way to 105 for a house. If you really want to save, you can opt for a rent house which is gaining popularity with tourist to Nosara. Contact one of the local real agents here to make the necessary arrangement.
Nosara Costa Rica is an excellent place for surfing and other water sports. The most popular beach here among surfers is Playa Guiones. The waves here are not too big and they are pretty safe for even novice or beginners. And if you need any help, there are quite a number of surfing schools around which are more than willing to show you the tricks of the trade. Fishing is also another popular activity in Nosara Costa Rica. The natural ecosystem of the waters off Nosara coast is perfect for fish like marlin, tuna, sailfish, Dorado, snapper and rooster fish to thrive here. Besides these, you should also try kayaking or boating on the Nosara river as well as snorkeling at the nearby off shore reef.
One of the things to do when honeymooning in Nosara has got to be taking the romantic walks on the pristine beaches with your love one especially in the evening where you can catch the stunning sunset. And if you prefer not to walk, try horse riding on the beaches, it is definitely one of the activities that you have got to do on your Costa Rica honeymoon especially in Nosara.
One of this area’s main attractions is the Ostional National Wildlife Refuge where thousands of endangered Pacific Olive Ridley sea turtles show up yearly to nest. Thousands of turtles invade the Nosara Costa Rica shoreline during peak season.
You simply can’t leave Nosara without visiting the Ostionale National Wildlife Reserve which is located about 45 minutes to the north of Nosara. The center of attraction at the reserve is the presence of thousands of turtles (happening at least once a month especially during rainy season) laying their eggs on the beach. It’s really an awesome sight to watch.
Getting to Nosara is a breeze, you can either drive which will take about 5.5 hours from San Jose or take a flight. Unless you really want to see the country and enjoy the scenery along the way to Nosara, I would suggest that you take a flight from either San Jose or Liberia. From San Jose you can take a direct flight into Nosara airport which will only take you about 45 minutes. This leaves you with plenty of time to explore Nosara and to enjoy the natural beauty of the beaches and surrounding areas.
Romantic Ideas For Your Costa Rica Honeymoon
So you have made all your travel plans and done the bookings for your Costa Rica honeymoon, now you are just waiting for the day after your wedding where you and your new spouse can hop on the plane to paradise. Hold on! Have you figured out how you and your spouse would like to spend your Costa Rica honeymoon together. I am not talking about places to visit or activities to do but more like the romantic stuff. You know if you don’t get it right during your honeymoon period, chances are you will take these things for granted after your honeymoon especially when everyday life and activities set in. So what kind of romantic ideas or activities that you and your spouse can do together while on your Costa Rica honeymoon or even any other day after that? Below are some suggestions that you can consider but they are meant as a guide only and not a hard and fast rule to a romantic time. You can use them and with a little bit of imagination on your end, you would be surprise on all the romantic ideas that you can come up with!
The best thing about having your honeymoon in Costa Rica is that you have nature on your side. I am talking about watching sunrise together with your loved one. There is nothing more romantic than watching the day sets in with warm coffee and your spouse next to you. For more ambiences, I suggest that you watch the sunrise at secluded romantic beach or up in the mountain. Do bear in mind that if you plan to do this in Costa Rica, you have to go the East Coast as the run rises on the east, you can try our either Puerto Limon or Tortuguero on the Caribbean coast for this. An equally romantic experience is watching the sunset together and there are plenty of places on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica to do this. Some of the more popular honeymoon places on the west coast of Costa Rica with stunning sunset view are like Jaco, Quepos, Manuel Antonio, Tamarindo and the beaches on Osa Peninsula.
The next idea is to bring little romantic presents for your spouse and give to him or her at special times of the day. These gifts do not have to be expensive like diamonds, jewelry and all but simple every day stuff like scented candles, bubble bath, massage oil or even a bottle of wine. Scented bath and massage oil are especially sensual for young couples. Light up your bath room with scented candles and if your room comes with a Jacuzzi, use some of scented oil so that both of you can take a bath together. If you are not very good with preparing these types of things, you can get the hotel staff to do it for you. There are many honeymoon hotels across Costa Rica that specializes in these things. Some of good ones that come to mind are Casa Conde del Mar in Playa Panama, Arenal Kioro near the Arenal volcanic zone, La Mansion Inn in Manuel Antonio, Hotel Capitan Suizo in Tamarindo and many others.
The next idea sometimes is not easy for guys especially if you are not the expressive type. What am I talking about? Writing down at least 8 reasons why you love your spouse. Well ok if you can’t think of 8, write down at least 5, anything less than that please do not show it to your spouse otherwise you would be asking for trouble. You could even do this while on you Costa Rica honeymoon, who knows, all the lush greenery, stunning views and pristine beaches may just inspire you to write the most creative stuff. However please make sure that they are real and not make up or at least they look real enough to your spouse! For those of you who are more creative, you can try out love poems together with the reasons or mix them up if you like. Plan a romantic private dinner on the beach or secluded place (again there are many hotels in Costa Rica which can do this for you), after dinner, take a walk on the beach or while sitting down at the dinner table, hand the note to your spouse or read it out slowly to her. This will take you guys a long way in your marriage as you are depositing into your spouse’s emotional back account.
Take a long walk on the beach with your spouse either in the evening as the sun is setting or at night under the moonlight. Listen to the soothing sound of the waves crashing on the shore as you hold your spouse’s hand and share with her the dreams and future together with him or her. If you want a little twist to this activity, try horse back riding and stop at secluded places where you can spend intimate moments together with your spouse. Some of the best places for romantic walks and horse back riding are Playa Panama and Hermosa in the Guanacaste region.
One of the most intimate things that you could for your spouse is to give him or her a good body massage. Use the scented body oil and use long and slow hand rub starting from her legs to her back and shoulder. For sure this will help your spouse to relax and put her into the romantic mood. If for some reason you can’t do this, the next best thing to do is to arrange for massages for both of you using professional masseurs from the hotel. There are many spa type of hotels and resorts in Costa Rica to cater to your needs. One of the best ones are Tabacon Grand Spa Thermal Resort in Arenal and JW Marriot Guanacaste Spa and Resort in Tamarindo.
One of most dreadful things to do on your Costa Rica honeymoon is to plan our all your itineraries and schedule to the dot which makes it pretty inflexible. Unless both of you would like to do it this way, otherwise my suggestion is to take it slow and easy on your honeymoon, be spontaneous and have a bit of sense of adventure as you try out new things without planning for them. You can start this off by having breakfast in bed, laze around the pool or the beach as you enjoy the natural surroundings of Costa Rica! For a bit of adventure you can try out white water rafting, surfing which is very popular here, scuba diving or even sport fishing!
Itinerary for a Costa Rica Honeymoon at Manuel Antonio
Speaking of coincidence, the other day I was staying over at my cousin’s place in Manhattan and guess what, their new neighbor just came back from their Costa Rica honeymoon. So obviously I was interested to find out how their honeymoon went and the places they visited. After some quick introduction and telling them what I did for a living, we quickly went down to business and talked about their Costa Rica honeymoon experience. They were very happy to share and from the looks of things, they thoroughly enjoyed themselves in Costa Rica. They were not too adventurous but wanted a romantic and secluded beach holiday so a major part of their time was spent on the beach. Well to be more precise they went to Manuel Antonio which is popular honeymoon destination located at the central Pacific coast of Costa Rica. The coastal town of Manuel Antonio is famous for its pristine beaches, great view and the nearby national park by the same name. My cousin’s neighbors spent around 8 days in Costa Rica and they were generous enough to share the details of their itinerary with me. So with their blessings, I have decided to publish a revised version of their itinerary for the benefit of my readers who may be in the midst of planning their Costa Rica honeymoon.
On day 1, they arrived at Juan Santamaria International Airport at San Jose which is the capital city of Costa Rica. After clearing immigration and collected their baggage, they headed for their hotel. It is pretty common for honeymooners and tourists alike to stay overnight in the capital city before heading out to their final destination in Costa Rica. This is due to the fact that most of them are already tired after a long flight, secondly there may not be any connecting flights when they arrived and finally San Jose is a great city to explore. Anyway back to the itinerary, they checked into Doubletree Cariari Hotel by Hilton which is conveniently located along the highway between San Jose and the airport. The hotel’s ground is beautifully landscaped with lush greenery and offers a stunning view of the central valley. It offers many luxurious amenities such as an outdoor swimming pool with a bar, tennis courts and an 18-hole golf course.
On day 2 after a sumptuous breakfast buffet at the hotel, they picked up their rented car and drove themselves down to Manuel Antonio which took around 4 hours. At Manual Antonio, they checked into the honeymoon suite at Si Como No Hotel which means “yes why not?” in Spanish. The hotel is well known for their nature preservation efforts and ensure that their guest do the same the minute they check in. That night they had a romantic five course dinner at the Claro Que Si restaurant at the hotel.
They started their third day with breakfast in bed and spent most part of the day relaxing around the pool and jacuzzi as well as checking out the beach. In the afternoon they decided to take a drive around town and had their dinner at Marlintini’s restaurant which offers some of freshest seafood in town. On the fourth day they decided to do something closer to nature so they visited Si Como No’s own private wildlife refuge called Fincas Naturales which is located next to the hotel. The wildlife refuge consists of 3 exhibits which are the Butterfly Botanical Garden, Aquatic Garden for animals that live in water and the latest addition, Crocodile Lagoon. After a long day out, they took some time out for a rejuvenating massage at the hotel’s Butterfly Garden Spa which is located next to the wildlife refuge.
On the fifth day they opted for the Manuel Antonio National Park tour. It is basically a 2 hour walk in the park where you could catch sights of sloths, toucans as well as other types of mammals that are synonymous with the region. The national park although is one of the smallest in Costa Rica but it is without a doubt one of the most scenic ones with gorgeous views and pristine beaches at the end of the walk. At night they decided to head out to Quepos which is an adjacent town for dinner and a night out at one of the watering holes on town. They ate at El Gran Escape restaurant which specializes in seafood cooked in Mexican style. After dinner they went for some drinks and partied the night away at El Banco bar which offers live music throughout the night.
On the last day in Manuel Antonio, they decided to just take it easy and relaxed on the beach. Alternatively you could either go on the horseback riding or canopy tours which are meant for the more adventurous ones. At night you can ask the hotel to arrange for a romantic dinner for 2 on the beach while listening to the waves beating on the shore and watching the stunning sunset. What a great way to end your Costa Rica honeymoon. On the day of their departure, they took the flight instead of the 4 hours drive back to San Jose. They had their rented car picked up at Quepos airport and took the domestic flight back to the capital city. They spent the night at Cariari hotel and took the flight back to New York the next day.
